Current research in genetics and genomics is highly dependent on bioinformatics capacity and expertise. Using the funding provided by the Canadian Foundation for Innovation, Dr. Igor Kovalchuk has established a state-of-the-art next-generation sequencing facility for the analysis of epigenetic modifications in various cells and systems. A strong bioinformatics support group has been built at this facility, able to assist AEN members with comprehensive data and databases analysis in the area of epigenetics/epigenomics. Sequencing capacity and bioinformatics support is also available at the Applied Genomics Centre at the University of Alberta.
- Implementation of new technologies for the analysis of epigenetic changes
- Development of software, bioinformatics support
- Application of epigenetic technologies
The network will actively work towards building upon these capacities.
